Generic Elocon Lotion A Cortisone-Like Steroid Used for Treating Itchy Rashes Part 1

Introduction

Generic Elocon 5ml lotion is a cortisone-like steroid available under the brand name of Elocon and is used to treat certain itchy rashes and other inflammatory skin conditions. The topical lotion is composed of Mometasone furoate and USP for dermatologic use. Accompanied with anti-inflammatory activity, Mometasone furoate is a synthetic corticosteroid with the empirical formula of C27H30CI2O6 and a molecular weight of 521.4. It is a white to off-white powder. It is slightly soluble in octanol and moderately soluble in ethyl alcohol and insoluble in water.

Generic Elocon 5ml Mode of Action

Having anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties, Mometasone furoate lotion induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins which are collectively known as lipocortins. By inhibiting the release of precursor arachidonic acid which is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A2, these lipocortins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation.

Drug Indications

Being a medium potency corticosteroid, Elocon Lotion is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid- responsive dermatoses. Its usage for children below12 years of age is not recommended.

Dosage & Administration Generic Elocon 5ml

Elocon lotion should be used daily once. In severe cases, it may be used twice only on instruction from your doctor. Take a few drops of the lotion and apply to the affected area. Lightly massage
